Around 1936, Billy and Jeannie Welch closed the hotel and remodeled it into a small family home. Originally opened as the first hotel and resort on Mt Hood and then as a boarding house for the local schoolteachers and others, the Welch family ran the Hotel and started the first nine holes of the local golf course. And on those less than perfect days, a cozy cup of tea or hot chocolate by a romantic fire in the living room, or perhaps a glass of a fine Oregon wine will give you a boost after a long day outside.
